Review of FORCE OF ATTRACTION by D.D. Ayres

~ SYNOPSIS ~

The only thing more powerful than fear is desire…

A seasoned K-9 officer with the police in Maryland, Cole Jamison has left her old life behind her. With a new home and a new partner—a protective canine named Hugo—Cole is ready for fresh challenges. A crucial position on an important drug task force is exactly what she wants…until she discovers her gorgeous, infuriating ex-husband will be the DEA agent in charge.

FORCE OF ATTRACTION

Agent Scott Lucca may be a pro when it comes to undercover assignments, but this job is daunting even for him. Posing as a happy couple on the dog competition circuit means he and Cole need to get a lot closer than they’ve been in years. Playing a live-in couple should seem like a walk in the park compared to tracking a brutal criminal, but suddenly nothing could be more dangerous than the passionate fire they’ve rekindled…

~ REVIEW ~

Wow!  There is so much to say about this one!  I LOVED both Scott and Cole and couldn’t help but root for them to be together.  However, there is a history between them they have to overcome if they will ever stand a chance of being together in the future.

Nicole “Cole” Jamison is a K-9 officer and loves her job.  To her she has the best partner in the world and the only thing that would make her life better is if she finally got her wish to be an undercover officer.  When she is asked to join a task force to stop an illegal drug ring who is using puppies as mules, she jumps at the chance.  However, the last person she wants to work with will also be on the team and they are to act as a couple in order to make them more believable.

DEA Agent Scott Lucca has never gotten over his ex-wife.  He still loves her and will love her until the day he dies; however, she doesn’t know this.  He screwed up their marriage when she caught him while he was undercover in a compromising position with another woman.  It didn’t matter that he was undercover to her, all that mattered was that he betrayed her.  When given the opportunity to work with her again, he grabs it with both hands.

Once they start training for Cole’s assignment, Cole and Scott can’t help but get closer.  Not as close and Scott would like, but he is hoping she will come around.  Cole is not ready to let her guard down around Scott.  He hurt her terribly and she has never gotten over it.  However, the more she is with him, the more she can’t deny the pull between them.

When someone from a past undercover job comes back into Scott’s life, no one is safe.  The person will stop at nothing to make Scott suffer and his #1 target is Cole.  Will Scott be able to protect her?  Will Cole ever let her guard down and allow Scott back into her heart?  Will Scott finally be able to be the man she needs and put her first?  You will need to pick up this little gem if you want to find out.

I really enjoyed this book.  Honestly, I enjoyed it so much I purchased the first book in the series so I could read more by this author.  Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down.  I had to know what was going to happen next and how the book would end.  The author did a great job with these two characters and I loved seeing how their relationship grew.  Make sure to pick up your copy today, I promise you will not be disappointed!!
