Ordinary, typical, conformed, are words never used to describe me. I’ve never been one to play by the rules. It’s my world, my life and I do things my way.

I see the way they stare at my body covered in tattoos and my lavender hair, I just don’t give a damn. There is only one thing in this world that can get me fired up, that’s screwing with my daughter. As a single mom, it’s my job to protect her, fight for her. She is and will always be my top priority.

So, when I get a call that she’s in trouble at school, with a boy- no less, my claws are out and ready to strike. And the boy’s father, some high society stockbroker, isn’t about to deter me. I don’t care how sexy, smart and rugged he is.
Opposites may attract, and I’ve been down that road before, it’s one I never plan to travel again. A man like that would never be interested in a woman like me. That I know for certain, after all I’m a realist.

EXCERPT REVEAL

I pull up in front of a cute little craftsman home. The siding is a dark gray with navy blue shutters and white trim. There’s a swing on the porch and two Adirondack chairs that I can just imagine Mona and Iris sitting in.

I climb out and come around to her side to help her down.  For the first time since I was a teenager, my nerves assail me as I follow behind her up the steps. She unlocks the door, and I grab it, holding it open for her to step inside. I follow close behind, locking the door behind me.

The only thing I get to notice is the walls are covered in pictures of Iris and Mona and even some of her and her sisters.

Mona comes over and stands next to me. “As you can see I’ve had many different hair colors.”

“You were still beautiful.”

She turns to me and grabs my face, pulling it down to hers. She kisses me softly, chastely at first, but I let her control the pace for a minute, and then I have to take over. I grab a handful of her hair, using it to tip her head back and deepening the kiss.

She opens to me, and when my tongue brushes hers, I groan. Fuck, she tastes good. I can still taste the hint of chocolate soufflé on her tongue. My hands glide down her back until I reach her luscious ass. I pull her into me, letting her feel my massive erection.

Mona grabs the lapels of my jacket, pushing it off my shoulders and down my arms. She reaches between us and pulls my shirt from my pants. I reach the zipper at the back of her dress.

The sound of the zipper going down echoes in the room, and I grab the sleeves and pull it down. I have to see her, so I reluctantly pull away from her. God, she’s perfection in the little scraps of black lace, and she looks even sexier than she did in her bikinis.

With quick hands, I unbutton my shirt and pull it off—followed by my undershirt. I don’t miss the way she stares at my bare chest, licking her lips. Mona’s eyes drift to my dick, which feels like it’s about to punch a hole through my pants.

“Bedroom?” I say, my voice hoarse.

She grabs my hand and pulls me down the hall to her bedroom. I pick her, turn her, and press her into the wall as I kiss her hard. I move down her neck, licking and nipping every inch of her skin.

“You smell like heaven,” I whisper against her skin. I don’t miss the goose bumps that pop up all over her body.

I grab her ass, lifting her higher, and it puts her tits right in my face. “Take them out.” She grips the top of her strapless bra, pulling the cups down until her dark pink nipples are revealed to me.

I lean in, sucking one tip into my mouth. Her arms wrap around my head, holding me to her breasts as she cries out. I switch to the other, giving it the same treatment. I’m so fucking turned on by her mewls and cries.

I carry her to bed, climbing onto it with her still wrapped around me. Her lavender hair spreads out around her. I push up on my forearm. “You’re absolutely stunning. Lift up for me.”

Mona wraps her arms around my back, lifting her upper body so I can reach behind her and unhook her bra. She lays back, and I sit up on my knees, looking her over. I’m a lucky fucking man.

MEET THE AUTHOR:
A Midwesterner and self-proclaimed nerd, Evan has been an avid reader most of her life, but five years ago got bit by the writing bug, and it quickly became her addiction, passion and therapy. When the voices in her head give it a rest, she can always be found with her e-reader in her hand. Some of her favorites include, Shayla Black, Jaci Burton, Madeline Sheehan and Jamie Mcguire. Evan finds a lot of her inspiration in music, so if you see her wearing her headphones you know she means business and is in the zone.

During the day Evan works for a large homecare agency and at night she’s superwoman. She’s a wife to Jim and a mom to Ethan and Evan, a cook, a tutor, a friend and a writer. How does she do it? She’ll never tell.

Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of eleven years and six-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
