Review of AFTER WE MET by Evan Grace

Title: After We Met
Author: Evan Grace
Genre: Contemporary New Adult Romance
Release Date: August 29, 2019

Blurb

Gorgeous. Sweet. Funny. He made me feel things that I’ve never felt before. In just one short week over Spring Break, I began to fall in love. That is until it all fell apart. Now, here I am, three years later and I’ve moved on, at least that’s what I told myself until he came crashing back into my life. Things have changed. I’ve changed, and there’s something he doesn’t know.

He wants me to give us another chance. I try to fight it, but it’s not long before all of those same old feelings come rushing back. I know he feels it too. I can see it every time he looks at me. I can feel it every time he touches me.

It feels like I’m missing something. Like there’s something that he’s not telling me. Something that has the potential to tear it all apart. After all, it’s not easy when you fall in love with your best friends’ father. I didn’t stand a chance after we met.

REVIEW

We were first introduced to Lani and Damon in an anthology that was released previously and I was chomping at the bit for more!! Lani was such a sweet girl who loves with her whole heart. When she met her best friend’s father, she knew she shouldn’t want him but she also couldn’t resist him.

Damon was mesmerized by Lani at first sight. When he was near her, he felt a pull towards her that he had never felt before. When he finally stops fighting his attraction to Lani, he knows he will never be the same. When his daughter finds out about them, he has to choose one and knows he will never truly be whole again.

I loved this story. I’m a sucker for unexpected pregnancies and forbidden love stories and this one covered both my loves. Lani is, hands down, one of my favorite heroines. She is so much stronger than she knows and I love how much she loves her daughter. Damon, well, I’m on the fence with him. Yes, in the end everything works out, but I just wish he would have made better choices.

If you are in the market for an angsty love story, this one is for you. The author did a wonderful job of creating Lani and I loved her to pieces. I only wish she would have made Damon work a little harder in the end. Even with that being said, I would not pass up this book. I love everything this author writes, she somehow has the ability to suck you into her stories to make you believe that you are right there beside her characters. Great job Evan!! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!!

“You are so beautiful,” I whisper. I know I’m playing with fire right now, but I’m beginning not to care anymore.
Lani licks her lips, it’s like she’s begging for me to kiss her. As much as I want to, I just can’t. I can’t do that, and I can’t do it to Molly. They’re best friends and I wouldn’t want it to destroy their friendship.
I reluctantly let her go. “We’ve got a busy day tomorrow. Maybe we should call it a night.” She follows me out of the pool.
I wrap her towel around her—my eyes never leaving hers as I slowly dry her off. My heart is pounding in my chest, squatting down in front of her I dry her legs off. My eyes drift down to her long shapely legs.
My fingers ghost over her smooth skin. I don’t miss Lani’s quick inhale of her breath or the rapid rise and fall of her chest. If I close my eyes, I swear I can smell her. My dick stands at attention and begs me to be inside her.
“Ahem…you better get inside.” My voice is hoarse, laced with desire. “I’ll-uh… see you in the morning.”
“Goodnight,” she whispers. Her voice is melodic and makes my blood sing. I don’t stand up until she’s inside and I see the guest bedroom light flip on upstairs. Only then do I extinguish the torches and head inside.
When I finally settle into bed, I can’t sleep. Is it because I know she’s upstairs sleeping? Is it because I’m dying to know if she’s wearing that threadbare tank top again? Before I can stop myself, I’m out of bed throwing on some basketball shorts and walking out of my bedroom.
I stand at the bottom of the stairs and take a deep breath. Step by step, I walk silently up the stairs. When I reach the top, I walk toward Lani’s closed door. I lift my hand to knock when I hear a soft moan and a faint buzzing sound. I need to walk away and give her privacy, but instead, I put my ear to the door and listen to her masturbate.
“Oh Damon.”
She just moaned my name and my cock is so fucking hard right now. I wrap my hand around it through my shorts and squeeze, trying to ease the urge to come. Lani comes with a muffled shout and I swear my balls start tingling.
I head downstairs before she catches me, but once I’m in the privacy of my bedroom, I jerk off voraciously until I’m spent and only then do I fall asleep.

Part of the Happily Ever Alpha World brought to you by Boom Factory Publishing LLC, Aurora Rose Reynolds, and Author CP Smith.

REVIEW

I fell in love with Bernice in the Wallflower series and I couldn’t be happier that she finally gets her HEA. While she may have grown up with more money than most people could imagine, all she really wanted was someone who loved her for her and not what they could get out of their relationship.  When she finally resigns her to the never finding that special person, she locks eyes with a man that sets her soul on fire; however, he leaves before she gets the chance to meet him.

Joe is November's uncle in the Until  series.  I knew he had a heart of gold just from getting small glimpses of him, but didn't know his whole story.  Well, this book lays it out for us.  While he may be tough on the outside, he has an emptiness inside his heart.  He wants nothing more than to find someone to settle down with and live the rest of his life devoted to her.  So when he catches sight of an angel, he knows she is his future.

I absolutely loved each and every word of this story.  I loved the journey that Bernice and Joe traveled to get their HEA.  Their connection was so strong and ran so deep that you felt it in your heart.  I loved how Joe would not let Bernice run from him and fought like hell to keep her.

This story was wonderfully written and I couldn't get enough of it. I didn't go to sleep the day I received it until 1:30 a.m. because I just had to know how the story was going to end.  And let me tell you, it was well worth the lack of sleep.  I can't recommend this story enough.  Make sure to grab your copy as soon as you can, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Cover Reveal of SINK OR SWIM by Tessa Bailey

SINK OR SWIM
By Tessa Bailey

Sink or Swim is the final installment of the Beach Kingdom Series (following Mouth to Mouth and Heat Stroke). Sink or Swim is Andrew and Jiya's story (friends to lovers!) and can be read as a standalone title, although the characters are introduced in the two previous series books.

BLURB:

Andrew Prince wakes up before everyone else. He schedules the bar shifts, demands perfection from Long Beach’s lifeguards—most of all himself—and makes sure the family debts are paid. His unfaltering worth ethic might leave him exhausted, but it comes with one advantage. It distracts him from the love he’s been harboring since childhood for the girl next door—who he cannot have.

Jiya Dalal has dreams. To fly a plane, see the world below…and prove irresistible to her best friend, Andrew. But she needs to be a good daughter first, which is becoming an increasingly difficult task, since her parents expect a good marriage and the man she loves with all her heart refuses to pursue the blistering connection between them. Just when she’s beginning to believe Andrew truly doesn’t want her, a moonlight tryst on the beach exposes his true feelings. But an echo from the past kept them apart before…and it’s only growing louder with every stolen kiss…

Excerpt

Jiya looked up and found Andrew watching her intently. “What is this, Andrew?”

“We’re dancing,” he rasped, his gaze slightly unfocused.

“You’ve never danced with me like this before.”

His gaze strayed to her lips, before he resolutely dragged them away. “Do you want to stop?”

“No and that’s the problem.” Come on, Mrs. I Don’t Play Games Anymore, bring up the elephant in the room. It’s not going away. “You’ve been different with me lately. Is it...” She took two bracing breaths. “Is it because I’m dating?”
He started to deny it, then changed his mind. “Might be. Yeah. I know that’s fucked up,” he said. “You’ve always been min—my best friend. We won’t have this if you start dating someone seriously. If you...”
“Get married?”
His complexion turned gray. “Mmm.”
Cement caked her insides, but she was used to it by now. She’d loved Andrew since she was a child. She’d waited patiently for him to love her back—as more than a friend—and he hadn’t. He’d done nothing about it. So while she yearned to dissect his every word and rejoice in them, ached for what he was feeling, she couldn’t do it anymore without being a fool. “Ask me the question, Andrew. The one you ask me every night.”
A line formed between his brows. “Can I do anything for you, Jiya?”
“Yes.” She took his face in her hands. “You can stay my friend. No matter what happens. Fine, things are changing in my life. But I couldn’t bear it if I ever lost what we have. Just stay my friend. Promise me.”
His jaw bunched. “You know I’d cut my heart out before saying no to you, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then you have your answer.” He wet his lips. “But we’re finishing the dance.”

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.
