Review of UNPREDICTABLE by C.A. Harms

UNPREDICTABLE
Author: C.A. Harms
Series: The Key West #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

~ SYNOPSIS ~

Have you ever wished for a moment that you could pretend to live the life of someone else? Escape the harsh reality that your own is anything but perfect?

Quinn had always been forced to put her own needs last. With an absent father and a mother who drowns herself daily in a bottle of Rum, there was no other option.

Jett was the distraction she needed, even if it was just for one night. A void filler, a chance for a freeing moment to allow herself to feel something other than emptiness.

He wasn’t what she expected…

Gentle

Her life didn’t have room for a man like Jett.

Unpredictable

But now it was too late, there was no turning back.

Desire

Nothing would ever be the same.

~ REVIEW ~

Once again, C.A. Harms has written a wonderful book!  As many of you may have guessed by now, I am a HUGE C.A. Harms fan.  Her writing just seems to suck me right in and hold me tight until the last page.  And even then, I am usually left wanting more.  I get excited each time I know a new book is coming because I KNOW I will be in for a ride.  This book is no exception.  We met Jett in the last Southern Boys book, LOVING COLT, as he is Alexis' brother.  And with the glimpse we were given of him, you knew that he loved fiercely and would do anything for those he loved.
Jett owns his own restaurant and doesn't have time for relationships.  He has never met someone who even makes him want to try, that is until he meets Quinn.  While their first meeting and night together wasn't supposed to mean anything, he can't seem to get her out of his mind.  When he woke up alone the morning after their wonderful night, all he wants to do is find her and have several repeat nights.  The last thing he expects is for her to turn up at his restaurant looking for a job.
Quinn has had a shit life and no matter what she does, it doesn't seem to get any better.  With a mother who is an alcoholic, the job of being a mother and provider falls solely on her shoulders.  She is not sure how much more she can take when her best friend conveniences her to attend a party to forget about her problems for a little while.  When she meets Jett she can't deny the attraction she feels and wants to experience one night of being free of all her problems and at the mercy of Jett's body.  When she bolts after he falls asleep to make sure she is home to take care of her mother, she can't help but feel the pang of regret at leaving him without a way to contact her; however, she tells herself it is for the best as she doesn't have the time for anything else.  When she shows up at a job interview and is face to face with the man who has haunted her dreams, she can't believe it.  She wants nothing more than to fall back into his arms, but she has way to much baggage for someone like him.
Will Jett and Quinn find their way back to each other?  Will they let the feelings they have for each other die or will they fight to be together?  In order to find out, you will need to pick up your copy today!
This was such a wonderful read and I loved how Jett would not give up on what he wanted, on what he knew they both wanted.  No matter how many times Quinn turned him down or made excuses, he was willing to fight for her.  He wanted to show her how she should be treated and how it truly feels to be loved.  Jett is going down on my list of top BBFs!!  I loved reading about how Quinn tried to deny what was happening between them and how Jett was determined to not let that happen. Jett knew Quinn was a strong woman, but he wanted to be able to help hold her up when things became too much.  I loved these two and couldn't be happier that they got their HEA.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what happens in the next one; hopefully Harper will get her HEA (fingers crossed).

~ EXCERPT ~

It’d been two days. Two days of unanswered calls, unanswered texts. Two days of driving by her house day and night, only to find it empty. I spoke with her boss at Spencer’s, and he too said she had taken some time off.

With each day my heart sank a little more with the thought that I had thrown away the best thing that had ever happened to me. This was on me, completely. I acted like the biggest dick when I should have just talked to her.

“Hey, numb nuts, you still pouting?” Kade shouted as he exited the French doors onto the back patio.

“I need to change my locks,” I grumbled. Resting my head back against the chair, I closed my eyes, attempting to block him out.

“Don’t blame me for your massive amount of shit. I’m just here for the pool—oh, and the free beer.” He chuckled as he pulled his shirt up and over his head, then took off and jumped, cannonballing into the pool.

“Whew,” he yelled out just before hitting the water. The cool splash flowed backward, drenching the entire patio. All I could do was shake my head at the ass. He was doing everything possible to pull me from my slump. I picked up my phone and checked once again for any response only to come up empty.

“Give the girl some time. I know it’s driving you crazy, not being able to fix this, but you need to try to give her some space.”

Kade climbed out of the pool, shaking his hair, once again spraying water in every direction. Cocky son of a bitch chuckled as I jumped from my chair and stepped back.
