This is the second book in the Scarred By Love series, so Kate and Carson are in no way new characters. Kate is best friends with Carson's sister, so they have been around each other most of their lives. When their relationship turned intimate, we all wondered how it would turn out. Well, this book leaves no stone un-turned.
At the end of the last book, we find out that Kate is pregnant with Carson's baby and they are moving in together. While neither one was expecting this turn of events, they accepted what was happening and Kate was looking forward to starting a family with Carson. However, Carson was not ready to give up his partying ways and soon lost the only person he ever loved.
This book is about Kate and Carson's struggles to be what the other needs. Kate is so in love with Carson that the last thing she wants to do is leave him. However, when he fails to come home after another night of partying, she knows she can't make the relationship work if he is not going to try either. While it kills her to leave him, she knows this is the best thing for her and the baby.
Carson knows he needs to change, but really doesn't want to make the effort. He knows all he has to do is tell Kate he is sorry and everything will be alright. What he doesn't expect is to come home and notice that all her stuff is gone. It is at that moment that he realizes what he just lost. Now he is determined to show Kate how much he loves her and will stop at nothing to get her back.
I loved seeing how much effort Carson was really prepared to put forth in order to win Kate back. He truly stepped up to the plate to show her how much she means to him. He grew a lot in this book and I couldn't help but love it. I loved seeing this new side of him and I really loved how he kept trying to show his brothers that they needed to change their ways.
The other thing I enjoyed about this book was the updates with Riley and Zander as well as the insight to the relationships with the other brothers Max and Tanner. I can't wait to read Max's story and see if he finally realizes it's ok to love. It will also be interesting to see if Tanner will finally quit his playboy ways and settle down. So with that being said, Ms. Harms get back to writing so we can have Max and Tanner's stories soon!!
