Review: After reading the synopsis of this book, I had a pretty good idea what to expect. I thought Gwen would be a broken woman who was devastated by the death of Ben and didn't know how to go on. I assumed Carter would be a hard ass who didn't want anyone to "get rich" off his brother's death. While part of that is true, the story is so much more than that. Gwen had no idea who Ben's family was and she has no desire to capitalize financially off the fact she is pregnant with his baby.
Carter had been burned in the past and knew better than to trust any woman. He believed Gwen was only after the family money/business and he was going to make sure she gets nothing. What he didn't expect was to start seeing who Gwen really was and all that she was willing to sacrifice for his family.
It is a good story about a strong woman who knows what she wants in life and doesn't depend on anyone for her happiness or her livelihood. Carter had truly met his match when she walked into his life. She made him open his eyes and realize that not everyone is a schemer out to take his money. When she walks out of his life after some horrible accusations by him, he is forced to come to terms with how he treats people.
I truly enjoyed the story and was very happy with the ending. The story was very well written and flowed nicely. I am looking forward to the next book which I hope will be about Carter's best friend, Devon. I would really like to see him get his HEA.
