When single mother, Annie Malone, purchases a quirky Main Street cafe on Heron Island, she thinks she's finally turned her dream of opening her own restaurant into a reality. Hearing rumors that a developer is about to build a five-star resort on the sleepy Chesapeake Bay island, she plans to transform the cafe into a premier upscale bistro. But Navy SEAL, Will Dozier, has no intention of selling his grandparents' property to a developer. Back on Heron Island for the first time in ten years and secretly struggling with PTSD, Will decides that a fling with the new girl is the perfect way to help him "get his head straight." The last thing Will expects is to fall in love...with his hometown and with Annie. But Will's life and career are in San Diego with the SEALs. Can Annie's love and the healing magic of the island be enough to convince him to stay?

Review

Annie moves to Heron Island after her daughter survives every parents worst nightmare.  She hopes the move will help her daughter, as well as herself, put the nightmare behind them.  When she has to change her dream of opening a fancy French bistro to opening a Cafe` instead, she only hopes it will be successful.
Will comes back to the island to sell his grandparent's property and then quickly leave.  However, when he finds out that a developer plans on building a resort on the property, his plans change.  He has no desire to see the land changed and his grandparent's house gone.  He only plans to stay long enough to do some repairs and find a buyer who will keep it like it is.  The last thing he expects is Annie.
Annie sweeps into his life and he can't seem to let her go, nor does he want to.  And even more surprising is that he is just as taken with her daughter.  The more time they spend together, the more they can't deny what they are feeling.  Annie wants Will in her life, but not if he is just going to leave and never look back.  When Annie's past collides with her future, everything changes.
This book was a joy to listen to.  I thought the narrator did a wonderful job with this one.  The story sucks you in and keeps you listening until the end.  The characters are so likable, you can't help but care for each of them.  This book is about so much more than two people falling in love.  It is a story about overcoming ones fears, learning how to move on after such horrific tragedy and how to open up ones heart.
I loved listening to Annie and Will's relationship grow, to realize love is all about taking chances.  I absolutely fell in love with Will as he found ways to help Annie's daughter deal with what happened to her.  He will be forever one of my top BBFs.  I can't wait for the next book in the series as there are several other characters that I want to see get their HEA.
