Review & Giveaway ~ RESISTING THE RANCHER by Roxanne Snopek

Resisting the Rancher
Series: Three River Ranch #4
Book Synopsis:
Country veterinarian Celia Gamble is in trouble. A misunderstanding from her past is rearing its ugly head and the only person she can turn to is Jonah Clarke—her family’s lawyer and, as it turns out, her brother Zach’s best friend and her childhood crush. She always wanted Jonah to see her as a bona fide woman, but as a woman who’s being wrongfully blackmailed for seducing a married man? Not on her life.
Jonah is happy to help little CeeCee Gamble, if only she’d come clean about why she’s being blackmailed. But with Zach’s wedding on the horizon and Zach’s fashionista fiancée Desiree giving CeeCee a makeover, the little duckling Jonah remembers is turning into a definite swan. And the unwritten law on sisters is clear—hands off. Jonah must resist Celia or lose the only true family he’s ever known.

Review:
Celia has recently moved back home to start her veterinary practice after graduating college.  She has always wanted to practice where she grew up and couldn’t wait to start, even if she was nervous of failing.  She had so much pressure on her from her brother to succeed, that she was terrified to let them down.  The last thing she needed was to run into her older brothers’ best friend, Jonah and dredge up all the feelings she has for him.
Jonah is a lawyer in their small town and he feels pressure to succeed for his parent’s sake.  He thinks his parents sold their farm in order to put him through law school and the least he could do is be successful.  He doesn’t go out and enjoy himself and he doesn’t let himself get close to anyone.  When he sees Celia for the first time since she moved back, he is struck by her beauty.  He has always cared about her and to be honest, he has had more than friendship feelings for her for a while.  However, he doesn’t want to act on them because he doesn’t want to lose the relationship he has with her brother and the rest of her family.
The more they are around each other, the harder both of them are having to fight off what they feel for each other.  When they finally do break down and have the best night of their lives, they are not sure where to go from there.  Celia has hired Jonah to help with trouble from her past and he feels guilty for getting involved with her.  Celia starts to realize that no matter how much she wants to be with Jonah, he will never see her as anyone else than a friend.  As much as it hurts, she decides to let him go and move on with her life.  She also decides to tell her family about her past and how she has brought trouble home with her.
What she doesn’t realize is that when she let Jonah go, he realized that he loves her.  He knows he is going to have to fight to get her back and he is determined to do it.  He wants to be the one to stand by her side day in and day out for the rest of their lives.
When she confronts her family and explains what is going on and the troubles she brought with her, needless to say her brother is furious.  He can’t believe she would not come to them when she needed them back at school and now bring her troubles to her family.  Her mother is devastated with the news and can’t believe how much Celia has suffered on her own.  The family vows to stand by her and help her.
Will Celia be able to overcome her past?  Will the trouble threatening her and her family go away?  Will Celia and Jonah finally get their HEA?  If you like stories about sexy cowboys, this is a good story for  you.  Celia grew up in this story, not physically, but emotionally.  She was finally able to conquer her fears and have the life she always wanted.  She was a strong character, who was wonderfully written to be a bright woman.  I even loved all her quirky shirts.  Jonah also grew up in this story.  He finally realized he is a great person and when he tries, he can truly make a difference in people’s lives.  I was so happy when he finally gave in to his feelings for Celia.  It killed me having to wait for Celia, but I understood why she was hesitant to be with him.  It is truly a sweet story about childhood friends who became so much more.  Don’t just take my word for it, to out and get your copy today!!

  1. Great review! I just purchased Resisting the Rancher this morning. I haven't read the rest of the series yet (purchased book1 recently), but they are on my TBR. Can this be read as a "stand-alone" or is better to read the series in order?

    1. Thank you! Yes, it can be read as a stand alone. I haven't had the opportunity to read the other books in the series and I had no problem with reading this one. It is mostly about Jonah and Celia, but the people from the other books are in it as well. I hope you like it!
